Raw Food Diet Review-Is It A Cure For Diabetes?

Simply Raw- Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days is an independent documentary film that chronicles six Americans with ‘incurable’ diabetes switching their diet to Raw Foods and getting off insulin.

“The film follows each participant’s remarkable journey and captures the medical, physical, and emotional transformations brought on by this diet and lifestyle change.

We witness moments of struggle, support, and hope as what is revealed, with startling clarity, is that diet can reverse diabetes* and change lives.”

Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days

“The film highlights each of the six participants before they begin the program and we first meet them in their home environment with their families. Each participant speaks candidly about their struggle to manage their diabetes and how it has affected every aspect of their life, from work to home to their relationships.

The film captures the human drama and struggle of these courageous individuals making a quantum leap of faith from a traditional junk food diet to a raw vegan diet and it shows revealing moments of nurturing, compassion, and human spirit.

It is a film about a life changing journey on a simply raw diet and how nature is the original medicine.”

What can this program do for you?

Statistics tell us that millions of people in the U.S. alone suffer from diabetes and this number increases every year.

One in every 500 children has it – as well as more than 20% of people under the age of 20. These facts are startling to say the least, but there is hope.

Nature is the original medicine

Numerous studies have shown that most people challenged by this condition have the ability to reverse their disease through diet. Simply Raw reveals, with startling clarity, that diet can reverse diabetes and change the quality of people’s lives.

This film is a MUST SEE documentary for those suffering from Type1 or Type2 Diabetes!

The program used by the individuals in this documentary is essentially the program created by Dr. Gabriel Cousens a live food nutritionist and author of “There is A Cure for Diabetes” The Tree of Life 21 Day+ Program.

By using this program over a period of 21 days you are essentially resetting your DNA through the use of green foods and juices, specific supplements and a diet rich in organic nutrient-dense living foods.

By the end of two weeks  many participants displayed test results consistent with a non-diabetic physiology. The end of the course focuses on live-food preparation as well as incorporating  and enjoying the healing properties of living foods, superfoods, and supplements into your daily diet.

Know that good health starts in the gut so….”Let food be your medicine and medicine your food”

 Program Cost

The cost for the Raw For Life program is a modest $19.92 (50% OFF) Regular Retail Price – and is available at Amazon.com

A nicely laid out article which I found really helpful and engaging to read. I loved the video! It’s always interesting to read about possible cures for chronic conditions and I have a number of friends with diabetes so thanks for posting. Why is it, do you think, that this hasn’t become more mainstream yet?

Education and awareness. As more people become aware of their choices for alleviating this condition, and what actually causes diabetes, then it will become more mainstream.

Example: Going from a traditional junk food diet to a raw vegan diet.

Tom,

Do you think age matters in the reversing of diabetes? Very interesting concept that raw foods can actually cure diabetes.I don’t have diabetes but my mother does. I will look into the 21 day program book. Even if it just slightly affects her blood sugar in a good way its a win. Thanks for the article

Hi Brad- You don’t often see someone under 21 with diabetes, however it is becoming more common now with our current western diet. Along with her doctors support, starting your mother on an organic raw whole food diet you will see some remarkable results.

I had to have another read of your post on this subject because I have been thinking about it overnight. I was wondering why the benefits of a really good and top-notch healthy diet for diabetics aren’t better known? I have one male friend who is diabetic and eats so much sugar still, it’s shocking really. It’s an important topic to tackle I think.

Hi Nicola- As I mentioned in another response, it is the lack of education in the medical community and among the public in general. As more people become aware of their choices for alleviating this condition, and what actually causes diabetes, then it will become better known. What that friend of yours doesn’t realize is that the sugar he is consuming is directly responsible, via inflammation for his diabetes. Transitioning from his traditional junk food (SUGAR) diet, to a raw vegan diet, or an organic raw whole food diet is his ticket out of the diabetic world.

This is a really interesting article – my elder cousin has suffered with diabetes all her life and I am forwarding this on to her because she would love to read this post.

You mention in the article that it only took 30 days of this raw food diet to see results – that’s extremely impressive.Tell me, do you feel there are any side effects/health risks with this type of diet?

Hi Chris- Glad you enjoyed the post. Yes, I am afraid their are some very serious side effects of eating an Organic Raw Whole Food Diet and that is total health and wellness! Chris if everyone ate an organic whole food raw diet or mostly raw diet you would see in a few years that most diseases and illnesses would probably disappear.

What a very informative article. I also really enjoyed watching the video. I don’t have diabetes, but my husband was a pre-diabetic. When he changed his diet to eating more healthy foods, he was no longer classified as a pre-diabetic. Since changing his diet he has better health and more energy. I wish more people would try a natural cure before getting on prescription medicine. Thanks for a great article.

Hi Tom-

I do not eat totally raw food, but I have upped the amount of raw food I do eat in my diet.
When I do eat something cooked, I always try to also have some raw food at the same time.

More and more I’ve become aware of the need for enzymes and the natural life contained within raw food and believe it’s one of the best ways to receive what your body needs.

Will I go totally raw? Hmm, not too sure about that, but I’ll definitely try to keep the raw to cooked ratio in favor of the raw!

Hi Marilyn and thanks for the comment! I’m like you, I try to mix it up. Right now I eat mostly raw, but still eat certain foods cooked. That way I get the best of both worlds!

Hi Tom-

I definitely think eating raw food could help to cure diabetes because organic raw whole foods brings your body back in line to a very healthy way of eating, with out all the toxins and junk from processed food substitutes that give us these crazy diseases. It’s like being born again almost! LOL

This seems like a legit program too, great information!

Hi Tom,

This subject is of particular interest to me, I have a sister that was diagnosed with diabetes Type I at the age of 12.

You can imagine how hard it was for her as a pre-teen and then teenager to follow all of the strict diet and behaviors that this disease entails…

Many, many years later (she is in her mid 60s now) she has suffered many other complications from the disease. Her heart is 90% damaged due to the effects…

She has had circulation problems, eye problems, other major organ problems and etc. all which can be associated back to diabetes…

I am surprised that this is not being more widely put out on the mass market media. I am sure there are a lot of drug companies that do not want it to get out.

I would like to see some scholarly research and peer-reviewed articles showing the efficacy of this treatment, and if they have this, I would help spread the news myself.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention…I will be checking up on this in more detail…Also what do you think of this, I would be interested to hear in more detail from you…

Cheers!

Dave

My dad is starting to get big into raw foods as much as he can and he’s not even diabetic. But I think the hardest part for people is quitting cold turkey or learning how to change their palate to enjoy more natural foods. We’ve trained ourselves to only fatty, sugary, or salty flavors that are beyond what we need. But I’ve found over the years that I’ve been able to decrease my sugar likeness dramatically and find even carrots sweet at times. Does this program incorporate helping participants overcome those struggles?

Hi Sarah- I am glad to hear your father is starting to eat mostly raw. Let’s also not forget that good fats are very important and should be a big part of any diet. Sugar is what’s to be avoided, as it is the number one cause of inflammation and obesity, leading to diabetes.

The film speaks mainly to the human drama and struggle of these courageous individuals making a leap of faith from a traditional junk food diet to a raw vegan diet, and it shows revealing moments of nurturing, compassion, and human spirit.

I would make a suggestion that if you are able to offer encouragement to your father as well as directing him to what raw foods and combinations he should start with, may be helpful. This could lead him to a successful change. If he can get off sugar for just one month, the changes could be remarkable, leading him to keep it going. Remember small steps.

Tom what an interesting article. As a person with Type 2 Diabetes I found myself drawn to this particular post. With the every increasing rise of people with diabetes it makes you wonder why our medical professional are not embracing this more. I think it may have something to do with the many millions of dollars that pharmaceutical companies make from the sale of insulin and other oral medications used by diabetics.

We as diabetics will need to investigate this issue more and try this raw diet probably without the supervision of our regular physician.

Hi Maureen- You are so right. All of us need to start taking responsibility for our own health. Yes there are times when a doctor is invaluable, however for the most part, we should look to research and our gut instinct as a basic guide. And remember to use whole organic food as our medicine.

Hi Tom- This is a very comprehensive article on a raw food diet in relation to diabetes. As diabetes in America is a real epidemic, it’s great that there are thoughtful ways to get it under control without medicine. I never understood the idea behind medicating diabetes. Why keep eating foods that are destroying your body and then use medicines to counteract the negative symptoms? Why not just treat the cause of the disease and get rid of foods that you cannot eat as a diabetic. Thank you for writing this and getting it out there 🙂

This is absolutely fascinating. I’m lucky in that diabetes does not affect me, however I’ve recently made huge changes to my diet- most noticeably, I’ve cut out sugar and all processed foods.
My body felt better immediately. I don’t want to nap in the afternoon any more. I’ve actually almost lost my appetite, and I’m losing weight (but in a healthy way).
I’m convinced that programs like this (raw food only) are much better for our bodies, especially when you see what junk goes into most foods.
Anyway, thanks for sharing this, I found it really informative, and may well try a raw food diet soon!
Thanks,
Chloe

I’m a big believer in healthy eating and also the unrecognized and under-stated importance of raw foods in general, let alone for diabetes purposes.

An informative article and well written, which gets the message across to make others aware of a topic they maybe did not realize existed.

Keep up the good work.

Diabetes has killed and still kills thousands of people yearly. Any means and every means necessary to fight this disease I would say should be encouraged, if only to save the lives of so many. The idea of making a movie, encouraging individuals, people who are suffering from diabetes on how to successfully cure themselves is much appreciated. And thanks for writing an awesome review about it.
